Texas Sophomore and Illinois Senior High School Students Tragically Pass Away After Collapsing During Basketball Games on Same Night
A 15-year-old high school basketball player from Alto, Texas, and a 17-year-old basketball player in Chicago, Illinois both died on Tuesday night after collapsing during a basketball game.
On the same night, Cameran Wheatley, a 17-year-old senior at Bremen High School, died after collapsing during a basketball game at Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.
According to a report from FOX 2, Chicago Fire said it took five minutes for EMS to respond and perform resuscitation on the young man before transporting him to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
High school student Devonte Mumphrey, a sophomore at Alto High School who played football, basketball, and track, died during a home basketball game against Mount Enterprise. According to reports, Mumphrey collapsed in the second quarter of the game.
The cause of Mumphrey’s death is still unknown.
