Florida priest among 4 killed in Palm Bay; gunman’s motive unknown



They said he wouldn't listen to them, an officer tried tasing him, and then after a struggle, Kapas opened fire hurting two officers.

Officers Stephen Ball and Nicholas Franze are expected to recover.

After the shooting, Kapas allegedly shot and killed his grandfather, 78-year-old William Kapas Sr.

The grandfather was trying to stop the suspect. A family member told WESH 2 the grandfather was visiting from Kentucky to celebrate his sister's birthday.
Palm Bay police said Sunday that Brandon Kapas, 24, shot and injured two officers who responded to a domestic violence call around 2 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of Forgal Avenue NE.


Other officers pursued Kapas, who was shot and killed by police, authorities said.

The police chief also said that an arsenal of weapons was found in the vehicle Kapas had been driving.
