Some parents have cried racism after a middle school choir sang a folk song about picking cotton.
The eighth-grade choir performed 'Cotton Needs Pickin' during their fall concert on Thursday at Springfield Middle School in Lucas County, Ohio, prompting at least one parent to storm out of the performance.
Parent Nicole Maulsby, who is Cuban, posted a video of the performance on Facebook, later deleting it.
She claimed that a song about workers picking cotton is a racist reference to black slaves toiling in the fields of the South.
