"Cornelius" shot to goodness after telling its new DL homie not to spit in the sink

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - Whether he was playing charades with family and friends, dancing or just being silly, Cornelius Jones was always the life of the party.

But deputies said Jones was shot and killed around 9 p.m. on Wednesday in his fourth-floor Carriage Place apartment in Pontiac, Michigan

Jones was killed Wednesday night by a 22-year-old who was visiting with several others, officials said.

Witnesses tell investigators the man spit in Jones’ kitchen sink. Jones then told the man that was disrespectful and asked him to leave, but instead of just walking out, the suspect became agitated and opened fire on Jones, shooting him multiple times before running away.

Several people were visiting Jones when witnesses said the 22-year-old man became agitated when Jones told him that it was disrespectful for him to spit in his kitchen sink and to leave. That's when the man pulled out a gun and shot Jones multiple times, according to investigators.

The suspect and another man fled the apartment building but were eventually tracked down by deputies using drones and tracking dogs.

During the foot chase, the suspect ditched the gun but we're told K-9 units were able to recover the weapon.
