94-Year-Old Veteran Kicked Out of Nursing Home, Replaced by Migrants

This seems to keep happening in New York City (and other places) and it should have everyone seeing red over the Biden border crisis. The latest incident took place at what was formerly a senior living center called Island Shores Residences on Staten Island in New York. That facility is now known as the Midland Beach Migrant Center. That turned out to be bad news for 94-year-old US Army veteran Frank Tammaro. He had been living independently at Island Shores for some time but was told earlier this year to pack his things and leave within two months. His room was given to illegal migrants and he is now living with his daughter.

“The City of New York has been employing a practice of opening migrant shelters and placing migrants into shelters under the cover of darkness,” Assemblyman Michael Tannousis said (R-East Shore/Brooklyn), at a press conference on Sept. 21.

“They are not keeping the community apprised, and they are not keeping the elected officials apprised. This has caused a sense of panic amongst the constituency.”

Homes for the Homeless, the new owners of the building, told Fox News it intended to sell Island Shores “to focus on its core mission of serving homeless families” and the preferred buyer “would be another senior operator.”

However, Homes for the Homeless then made an agreement in August with City Hall to move migrants into the facility, which is now known as the Midland Beach Migrant Center.

The Department of Social Services (DSS) spokesman told the Staten Island Advance in September the former senior living facility would be turned into a migrant shelter for 113 families with private rooms and meal services.

The decision led outraged Staten Islanders to protest in front of the shelter, with some physically blocking the arrival of an MTA bus carrying asylum seekers.

Army, Navy Veterans Lose Hotel Rooms To Illegal Immigrants As Biden Border Crisis Intensifies

A wave of frustration has swept over Army and Navy fans who had planned to attend the much-anticipated Army-Navy game at Gillette Stadium this December. Several military families and veterans have found their hotel reservations unexpectedly canceled, with the rooms being allocated to accommodate illegal immigrants under Massachusetts’ “right-to-shelter” law.

According to reports from American Military News, Washington Examiner, and FAIR, the cancellation of hotel reservations is a direct result of the state’s right-to-shelter law. This law requires that adequate housing be provided for homeless families and immigrants, even those who have entered the country illegally. Consequently, many hotels in the area are currently occupied by these groups, leaving fans and service members without accommodations for the game.

The Washington Examiner noted that these cancellations are legal under Massachusetts law, but the influx of illegal immigrants from the southern border has created an unprecedented situation. The displacement of military families and veterans has sparked controversy and raised questions about the implementation and impacts of the right-to-shelter law.
