Father of 2-year-old critically injured in East Nashville shooting wanted for questioning
The Metro Nashville Police Department is working to find Jeffery Thorpe. He is wanted for questioning in the Monday night shooting and on an outstanding aggravated assault warrant on allegations he pointed a handgun at a car containing the 2-year-old and the child's mother last June.
The mother of the 2-year-old, Aaliyah Scales, 23, told authorities that the child's father, Thorpe, was visiting and placed his firearm on a bed. That's when she says the 2-year-old picked up the gun and fired it. The child was struck in the head.
