Just minutes after the parade began, it came to an abrupt halt when BLM protesters filled the street with signs. The demonstration came after a week of controversy surrounding the parade's inclusion of police. Last week, outrage over the verdict in the Yanez trial led TC Pride organizers to uninvite uniformed police officers. After days of criticism and a discussion with Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau, organizers reversed the decision and made an apology.
