Chemistry teacher sets student on fire after 'pouring ethanol onto a flame instead of water during a lab experiment,' leaving the 15-year-old disfigured from third degree burns all over his body

A teen has been hospitalized with third degree burns all over his body after a school chemistry experiment went wrong.

Malachi McFadden, 15, was burned during a chemistry class on Tuesday at Redan High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

He allegedly suffered burns to his face, head, arms and full body after his teacher lit a dollar bill on fire during a science experiment.

'The fire got out of control as expected because there was ethanol in the bowl,' the family's attorney Chris Stewart told Channel 2.

Then instead of grabbing water then teacher allegedly picked up 'a jar of ethanol and threw it into the bowl,' Stewart added.
The alcohol accelerated the fire, causing an explosion, which set McFadden alight and left him with third degree burns.
