Simyua Askew will spend a little more than two years in jail for “humiliating” a dead man by stealing his pants and leaving his bloody body splayed in the middle of a convenience store parking lot.
Askew, 23, was sentenced to two years and two months Friday after pleading guilty in February to grand larceny and accessory after the fact in connection with the May 25 stabbing death of Carl Stevenson Shands Jr., 56, outside the Shop ‘N Go on East Virginia Beach Boulevard.
Her girlfriend, Natia Sylvia Boddie, is charged with second-degree murder and accused of stabbing Shands. Her trial is scheduled for June.
