Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best, and Kim Haughton’s project Portrait of a Century is genius in both its simplicity and impact. The Irish photographer and documentary maker has photographed 100 people, one born in each year since the foundation of the State.

I had a penchant for a while reading british murder mysteries. I can't remember the character's name but he was a former member of the Irish Police that was canned for drinking. The novels were quite good until he described the Somali community that immigrated to the area as lovely people.
