Masjid Al-Rahman's will be the second purpose-built mosque (a building specifically constructed to be a mosque) to go up in the state. The first, Masjid Al-Islam in North Smithfield, was built in the mid-1990s and recently announced plans to expand.

I grew up in RI. It was mostly white and catholic where I grew up in a small town. I can tell you that it was quite "diverse" in the city but never did we think there would be a mosque. Terrible times we live in.
