The deaths of two sitting Congressmembers from the same district within a year hits hard for many in the 18th District.
"It's a mournful time," said constituent Linda Bell Robinson.
She's the district's precinct chairperson and knew both Sylvester Turner and Sheila Jackson Lee as leaders and friends over the course of their political careers.
"As we know, Sheila went all over," Robinson said. "And as we know, Sylvester was everywhere."
She said any successor needs to able to serve all communities in the abstract-donut shaped district.
