SAN ANTONIO — A 26-year-old man claims that he killed his significant other, an 81-year-old man, according to police.
At about 5 a.m. Saturday morning, SAPD was called to the 100 block of Felisa Street for a welfare check. The 26-year-old man who called claimed he just murdered his 81-year-old partner.
Officers arrived at the scene where they found the victim, later identified as Donald Atha Weynandt, with stab wounds to the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alberto Rafael Ferrer Cabrera was detained at the scene and faces murder charges following an investigation.

Online court records show, along with murder, Ferrer-Cabrera is accused of illegal entry from a foreign nation. Mercado said she believed he was taking advantage of her father.
“He did commit a very just heinous crime, I think he should be held accountable,” Mercado said. “I don’t think they should go easy on him.”
While she is still trying to come to understand what happened, she wants people to know her dad was a loving father, grandfather and veteran.
