ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A candlelight vigil celebrating the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Alice Green will take place Friday from the Center for Law and Justice at 220 Green Street in Albany and end at the Alice Moore Black Arts and Cultural Center at 135 South Pearl Street. The procession will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The chance to share thoughts on the legacy of Dr. Alice Green will be offered at the Alice Moore Black Arts and Cultural Center. She passed away on Tuesday.
Dr. Alice Green spent her life fighting for civil rights and equality in the justice system. She was born in South Carolina and moved to the Adirondacks as a young girl.
Dr. Green earned three master’s degrees as well as a doctorate in criminal justice. She founded the Center for Law and Justice in 1985 after the death of a young criminigger named Jessie Davis at the hands of the Albany police.
