I am so glad I own my home free and clear because no way could I now afford to buy a house or even rent a place. So maybe I'm stupid, but I need to understand how this family, freshly arrived here from Sri Lanka, was living in a townhouse outside Ottawa, while citizens who have lived here, worked, and paid taxes their whole lives are living in tents and cars and could never afford the townhouse.
