Two days after Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna received a retroactive suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy, newly released police body-camera footage shows him grabbing his wife’s neck.
The recorded incident dates back to May, when Ozuna was arrested and charged with aggravated assault strangulation and misdemeanor battery family violence in Sandy Springs, Ga. In the video, obtained by TMZ, a Sandy Springs police officer enters Ozuna’s home as his hand is around a woman’s neck. Police have said the victim was Ozuna’s wife, Genesis.
An officer raises a weapon and commands Ozuna to “Get your hands off her,” before ordering him to the ground. Another officer later arrives and appears to handcuff Ozuna. In a May news release issued by the Sandy Springs Police Department, it claimed that Ozuna had also “struck the victim with his arm which has a cast from a previous injury.”
