I know this current presidential administration wouldn't have done a thing to their friends, so my hat's off to the Israelis.

I'm sad to read this.

(The part about the crew being safely rescued).

^^^I must agree here - nothing like this just happens.

Ordinarily, ships don't just sink from catching fire. A crew of 400 should have been able to put out a fire before it got this out of hand.

This ship not only carried fuel but also ordnance. Real smart, there guys. That's probably what ensured the sinking though I do highly suspect Israel of lighting the match.

This was one of their inventory of only 3 tanker ships that kept them a blue water threat. This leaves them severely handicapped now for any type of power projection outside of their immediate coastal waters. It will take them quite some time to replace it. The only two left operational are also over 40 years old (pre-revolution) and falling apart.

Side note: Interestingly, 1% of the Iranian population is made up of Christians, Jews, Zoroastrian and Baha'i. For some reason, they don't get persecuted as much as you might think. They are all Iranian citizens and subject to conscription which makes up over half of the Iranian Military. This means 1/2 of the military doesn't want to be there.

The average Iranian hates their government and doesn't support it but feels powerless to stop them.

Sounds vaguely familiar somehow, doesn't it.
