A Sumter nursing home employee has been arrested after officials say he attempted to engage in sexual contact with a patient.

Towodi Shequoyah, 36, has been charged with 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Officials say another employee saw Shequoyah in the 73-year-old female victim’s room with his pants down and his genitals exposed.



Shequoyah was taken into custody and is being held at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. His first hearing appearance has been scheduled for Sunday morning.
