Winston-Salem officer accused of sexually assaulting woman during police call

A now former Winston-Salem police officer is being charged with sexual battery.
Authorities say on February 20, Patrol Officer Harry L. White III responded to a call for service at the Best Western Plus University Inn, located on the 3000 block of University Parkway.
Approximately four minutes after White cleared the scene of the call for service, the Winston-Salem Police Department was notified of an allegation by an adult female who encountered White during the earlier call for service.
The adult femalealleged that she was sexually assaulted by White during the call for police service at the hotel.
Monday, detectives charged White with sexual battery. White was taken into custody at the Forsyth County Detention Center without incident. White received an unsecured bond in the amount of $2,500.00 and a court date of May 28.
