BBC unveils plan to promote black and ethnic minority staff as 'senior leaders' to create more 'inclusive' organisation - as June Sarpong becomes Director of Creative Diversity

The BBC has unveiled plans to promote black and ethnic minority staff as 'senior leaders' in order to create a more 'inclusive' organisation, as the broadcaster vows to become 'more representative of the UK'.
The corporation's boss, Tony Hall outlined the plan, with the company having previously announced the appointment of June Sarpong as Director of Creative Diversity.
In an email to staff today, Hall proposed the strategy of the BAME (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) talent, with the subject heading of the email entitled 'Going further in building a creative, inclusive BBC'.
'Our leaders have a crucial role to play in creating a truly inclusive culture throughout the organisation, so getting things right at this level is vital if we are to build the very best BBC for our audiences.'
