. NEWARK -A driver who crashed a Newark school bus carrying children had overdosed on narcotics and needed to be revived by Narcan, according to the Newark Police Department.
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said that 57-year-old Lisa Byrd was driving the bus while high on narcotics. She apparently overdosed and crashed the bus into a tree by 14th Avenue and Jones Street.
Ambrose said that officers arriving on the scene found drug paraphernalia inside the bus. Byrd was given Narcan to revive her, and she was taken to University Hospital for treatment.
