Mexico’s Cash Cow: Remittances from the US & Other Countries Surge to New Record (https://wolfstreet.com/2019/02/06/mexicos-cash-cow-remittances-from-the-us-other-countries-surge-to-new-record/)

The total amount Mexico received in “remittances” — transfers of money by workers of Mexican descent mostly in the US but also other countries to individuals in Mexico — surged by 10.5% in 2018 to $33.4 billion, the highest figure registered since records began, back in 1995, and beating the prior records set in 2016 and 2017, according to the Bank of Mexico.
The cash remittances are a lifeline for Mexico’s economy, accounting for 2.7% of Mexico’s GDP, up from 1.9% in 2009. Most of them get spent very quickly in the Mexican economy. In some Mexican states, they can represent as much as 10% of total revenues. In 2018, they provided more funds than the $29.3 billion in export revenues that state-owned oil company, Pemex, obtained from its exports of crude oil and other hydrocarbon products, and they provided more funds than foreign direct investment in Mexico ($30.7 billion).

Every single year between 1995, the year the Bank of Mexico began tracking the movement of funds between Mexican workers in the U.S. and their families back in Mexico, and 2006, a fresh annual record was registered. Between 2000 and 2001 the total amount sent grew by around 35%, from $6.57 billion to $8.89 billion. In 2003 the rate of growth surpassed 50%.

Most of that money being sent from the USA to mexico is from illegal wall jumpers. Time for Trump to clamp down on this.

All money remittances from the US to any foreign country need to be taxed at a higher rate, as it is $ that leaves. Apportion a large % for the wall and increased security. Barbed wire, electric fencing, tear gas, etc. Those captured are to be considered criminals and made to work to build the wall, supervised, of course. I think I've read that it costs trillions for American taxpayers to support the 20 million or so illegals.

If he does all the shitlibs will all just line up and scream 'rayciss!' and 'Orange Man Bad!' at the top of their lungs.

If they turned off the welfare spigot to illegals, busted all the people employing illegals and put troops on the border to stop all the drugs coming in, they would all just piss off and go back to where they came from in the first place.
With no welfare, employment or drug revenue they would have no reason to come here.

This isn't news for me at all. Here in the California Central Valley it's largely agricultural and every other person is a no-habla border hopper.
The farmers here hire illegals by the droves and pay them shit wages. A lot of it is seasonal and in the fall, harvest time, the population here nearly doubles.

It's a pain in the ass for adult beverage connoisseurs such as myself. The money transfer bidness around here is booming especially at Achmeds Bait, Tackle & Liquor. In the fall you need to pack a lunch to run down for a sixer. Best to do that anywhere but a Pakistani liquor store where the line for lottery scratch-off's and money transfers to Mexico is around the block.

That's why remittances are hitting record numbers. They know what's about to happen. With Trump declaring an emergency and the wall going to go up despite Congress, they know remittances (and taxation/exit fees for that outgoing money) will be next on the block. They're getting that cash out now, just like Venezuela is smuggling out its gold reserves before Maduro gets clicked.

BTW, people shouldn't give too much weight to all the 'courts are gonna stop Trump if he EO's his way to the wall'...first off, he's legally on as solid ground as it can get, the SCOTUS will hear a challenge and then say, 'this is a political question', and not allow the case. Secondly, the United States military isn't going to give one rats ass about some 9th circuit judge's ruling to halt wall construction. They answer to Trump. Unless POTUS is removed, voted out, or dead, I think we may finally see the wall go up.

Wall, barbed wire, drones, arms, tear gas, All deterrents necessary. Invaders need to be repelled, not fed and coddled. I say 90% are economic refugees. Those saying their country's gangs are forcing to leave, they don't have any right to ask for asylum here - they need to stay at the 1st country that will accept them as refugees. I'm just sick of hearing loud blaring mariachi music, loud Mexicans talking Spanish, not English, LA Raza, and their children who spit at our teachers.
