Baltimore Woman Says She'll Use Gun Buyback Cash to Pay for an Even Bigger Gun
This might not be what lawmakers had in mind when they created this program.

There are other ways to game the system as well. For example, the city is offering $25 for every "hi-capacity" magazine turned in. Some digging from Daniel J. Mitchell of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) discovered that such a "hi-capacity" magazine can be purchased online for about $12. The $13 in profit may not seem like much money to some, but it can be the difference between paying for food, rent, a bill, or even a Christmas gift.

They had one in DE in Nov. they were offering $100 for bump stocks or trigger cranks. Some crafty entrepreneur decided he would cash in...

That haul doesn't count the 120 wooden devices that someone made at home with the express aim of cashing in on the buyback program. Police agreed to take the "crudely crafted" items but refused to pay out the $12,000 that the man who made them was seeking.

"The department was clear in its communications that it would not compensate residents for any homemade devices," said Kimberly Chandler, deputy secretary of the state Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
