A Clayton nigger music teacher is accused of using promises of a singing career to force one of his students into a sexual relationship, police said.
Ivan Hampden Jr., 60, was arrested Wednesday at his home and charged with five counts of sexual servitude, as well as seven disseminating obscenity charges. He was being held in the Johnston County jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
From 2014 to August, a woman in her 50s took singing lessons at the Hamptown Music Institute, at 104 S. Barbour St. in downtown Clayton, which Hampden owns, police said. During some of those lessons, Hampden tied the woman up in a back room and recorded sex acts with her, police said.
