St. Louis police released surveillance video of individuals carrying and firing weapons at a packed North City gas station parking lot.
Police said they've had problems with ‘Cruising’ for years; crowds of young adults or teens driving around a business as well as hanging out there with friends and showing off their cars. Now, police have noticed a trend in ‘armed cruising.’
Police released video of people carrying assault rifles and firing them off into the air at the Energy Express Travel Center- Phillips 66 gas station located on North Broadway and Grand.
The business has resorted to chaining off all but one entrance, apparently to make it inconvenient for cruisers in hopes of discourage them from gathering. The armed cruising was first noticed July 4. Police are now cracking down on the armed cruising before someone gets hurt or killed.
“We’re going to have significant uniform presence for the next few weekends,” said Police Chief John Hayden. “This is something that occurs over Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and we’re going to have much heavier presence.”
Police plan on being near the gas station starting Friday night.
