Arriving officers located Sharie Henry of Newark, who was shot during an apparent carjacking, according to the ECPO. The victim was transported to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:28 p.m.
Henry, whose first name was identified on Facebook and in other outlets as Shuri, had just enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with family and was returning to her vehicle with her young nephew when as many as four males armed with guns approached and demanded her car, according to RLS Media.
The victim's 2005 Kia Sorrento, NJ registration D71-FYE, was taken during the incident. Reportedly, three people who were found in the victim's car were arrested (see the nj.com video below), but the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said they had no such information as of 2 p.m. Friday.
